A Beautiful Day for a Ride

Up front I have to say that the title might seem a little strange.  In fact I am sure that I have used it before.  But that was back when we used to ride our bicycles.  So what the heck does this have to do with anything?  Well, today we went for a bike ride.

For the first time on this adventure we were able to throw on our shorts.  The sun shone and the temperature for the first time on this adventure actually made it above 25.  So it seemed like a great day to go for a ride.

As you will see, our bikes were not exactly the same as we are used to riding.  It felt a little bit weird to be heading off on orange and blue bikes with a bunch of tourists.  But then again, I guess we are tourists.

We rode from Wertheim to Freudenburg.  It was 25 km of bike path riding along the side of the Main River.  It was great.  At the finish of the ride, we were handed a glass of beer to drink.  I should say that we were handed a glass of beer to 'chug'.  It had taken the group so long to get to the finish that the bus that was to take us back to the ship, was almost ready to leave.  Some of us had no problem inhaling our beer.  I should have got a picture of Sue waiting on the side of the street for the bus with a glass of beer in her hand.  Unfortunately, I did not.

As for our visit to Wertheim, it was short for us.  The boat got in at 8:20 am.  We were on the bikes by 8:45.  The bus dropped us off at 12:45pm.  The boat pulled out about 10 minutes later.  So we can say that we were in Wertheim Germany, briefly!

Wertheim Castle from our boat as we arrived this morning.

My Steed for the day!

Sue's pretty bike!

Another castle ruin - Studprozelten  (This one has a twist.  It has a restaurant and beer garden!)
