A Slow Relaxing Day on the Boat
We departed Budapest at about 6:15 last evening. We are surprised at how smooth the ride is. You do not even know that you are moving if you did not look at the banks of the river.
We again enjoyed a great dinner. We sat with 6 Americans; a retired Army Chaplain and his wife, a couple from Vermont, and 2 women whose husbands have died who are from Chicago and the Michigan Peninsula. Before we knew it, the staff were cleaning up around us. We had outlasted the entire restaurant. We had had a few drinks by this time. Taking the hint, 4 of us, Sue and I and the 2 ladies, moved ourselves down into the lounge to continue our conversation and if you can imagine have a few more drinks! Again before we realized it, the lounge was being cleaned. Imagine, for the 2nd time in the evening, we were the last one's standing! (but only barely)
Today has been relaxing. We have been able to spend some time on our balcony and a little time up on the rooftop enjoying the scenery as it passes by. We experienced our first passage through a lock and got to see our first couple of castles as we proceeded towards Vienna.
Tonight we are off to a concert...to get a little culture. As the lady from Chicago said "you know it couldn't do you any harm"...I am unsure how to take that!!!
